Five Sweet Nut Butter Recipes

We believe a diet based on whole, organic, unprocessed plant foods is best but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy something a little special every day.

Nut butters are one of our favourite indulgences, sweet and nutritious, they are packed with protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals and make the perfect spreads when we want something to smother on bread, stir into a smoothie bowl or drizzle onto banana ice cream.

Nut butters can be made in a high speed blender or food processor. Blend the nuts and oils first on a low speed, scraping down the sides every now and then until a smooth butter has formed. On a low setting again, add the rest of the ingredients and keep blending until smooth. All nuts can be substituted with cashews if preferred.

These butters will keep for weeks in airtight jars, if they last that long!

Berry Brazil Nut Butter

  • 1 tbsp blackberry powder
  • 1 tbsp blueberry powder
  • 1 strawberry powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup brazil nuts

Chocolate Pine Nut Butter

  • ½ tsp Maldon salt
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups pine nuts
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 3 tbsp carob powder
  • 3 tbsp cacao nibs

Spiced Almond Butter

  • 1 tbsp maca
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1½ tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar

Sweet Macadamia Nut Butter

  • 1 cup macadamia nuts
  • 2 tbsp lucuma powder
  • 3 tbsp grated cacao butter

Tangy Walnut Butter

  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 tbsp baobab powder
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar
