July is almost at an end and we have been enjoying some wonderful things this month. Here are our July favourites.
Izumi Raw Organic Nori Sheets
We are huge fans of seaweed and vegan sushi but tend to limit how much nori we eat because until now we have been unable to find an organic option. These sheets are made from raw algal fronds, sustainably harvested and pressed into traditional paper thin sheets. The nori is rinsed, chopped, pressed and dried naturally at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Grown outside of the area affected by the nuclear disaster, these sheets are tested for 450 potential contaminants, pesticide residues and heavy metals, as well as 16 different isotopes of radiation. And they taste amazing.
Yakso Organic Rice Paper
Made from just rice, water and salt, these papers perform just as well as the ones made with tapioca and have the added benefit of being organic. We choose organic at every opportunity and are so pleased to be able to make rice paper rolls with all organic ingredients.
Opies Organic Capers
Plump, firm and expertly preserved, these capers which are actually capotes, small capers, that are perfect raw in salads or cooked into dishes. We love these so much we don’t think we’ll ever use another brand.
Wholegood Organic Macadamia Nut Butter
Made from organic macadamia nuts, cold milled below 44°C and a pinch of Cornish sea salt, this nut butter is free from added sugar, refined oils or preservatives. Smooth and sweet we love this alone, on dates or used to make raw desserts and white chocolate.
We love this brand and their body care products are some of our favourites ever so it’s no surprise to us that we enjoy their fragrances so much. This refreshing yet musky organic perfume is a blend of frankincense, rosewood and blue tansy essential oils, designed to bring the wearer into a state of gratitude and offer a reminder to take a moment, breathe and let go of negativity. Crafted with consciously sourced 100% pure, rare and organic essential oils, this vegan and gluten free scent is free of parabens, artificial fragrance, synthetic colorants and petrochemicals. Designed for women, we find this clean and heady scent works well as a unisex fragrance.
Lauren B Nail Couture Nail Perfector
This long lasting faintly tinted varnish smoothes out ridges, masks spots or discoloration and leaves a matte finish with one coat and a nude polished finish with two. A unisex nail corrector that can be worn alone or as a base coat, it is eco and vegan friendly and made without formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor or TPHP.
Nature’s Answer PerioBrite Mouth Wash
It’s summer and our days are spent snacking on fruit and drinking kombucha so we need deep cleaning products for our teeth. Formulated from natural botanicals including oregano, cinnamon, rosemary and clove along with other healing herbs and essential oils, this mouth wash is free from artificial flavours, preservatives, SLS, alcohol and fluoride. Designed to support gum health, cell vitality and provide thorough cleansing, this mouthwash is eye wateringly strong and leaves teeth and gums gleaming.
Vegano Italiano:150 Vegan Recipes from the Italian Table by Rosalba Gioffre
For anyone who thinks that a vegan diet is a diet of lack rather than abundance, this books serves to prove otherwise. Rosalba Gioffre worried that becoming vegan would see her lose a part of her heritage; the foods and meals she had grown up preparing and learning. When she realised this wasn’t the case, she knew she had to share her vegan takes on traditional recipes. The result is a book brimming with dishes, introduced with guidance on what constitutes veganism, advice on meeting nutritional requirements and encouragement that veganism isn’t just possible but fun and enjoyable.
Interconnected: Embracing Life in our Global Society by The Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje
The Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje draws on years of intensive Buddhist training and a passionate commitment to social issues to teach us how to fully understand what it means to experience connection. Whether in the sphere of family, community or shared humanity, it is vital that we not only recognise our connections to one another and to the earth but also begin to actively work together as interdependent individuals to create a truly global society.
