Christmas is a time of sweets and treats but there are healthier ways to indulge than buying conventional candy.
Whilst we won’t claim that these hard boiled sweets are healthy, they are better than standard shop bought offerings made from glucose syrup, white sugar and colourings, flavourings and preservatives.
Made with just three ingredients that include healthier sugars and plant extracts, these are sweets we are happy to enjoy over the festive period.
- 8 drops alcohol free medicine flower extract – we like mint
- 40 ml maple syrup
- 65 ml water
- 100 g coconut sugar
Boil together the maple syrup, coconut sugar and water for 8-10 minutes, stirring for the last two and removing from the heat once the mixture has started to puff up so that it doesn’t burn.
Mix in the medicine flower extract and pour into moulds. Once set, wrap the sweets in squares of grease proof paper.
